About Me

Jochem Tans

As an NSCA Certified Personal Trainer, I support inspired living for all through long-term health and athletic development.  My holistic approach focuses on teaching tools and building practices to support greater strength and stability of the body, mind, and spirit throughout one’s lifetime.

Since childhood, exercise and outdoor adventure have been my greatest and sometimes my only real outlet.  I began my professional life after graduating Harvard Law School as a burned out corporate lawyer.  I realized at 40 years old after 14 years of successful legal practice (punctuated by two long athletic sabbaticals) that I had no real passion for the work I was doing and no understanding of my life’s purpose.  After leaving my secure career and searching for a more meaningful path, I discovered a call to share with others the healthiest, most liberating, and most empowering things I have learned in life, not just about athletic training but also about interconnected spiritual well-being.  In fact, many of my greatest realizations have come from eight years of competitive 24 hour solo and duo mountain bike racing in which I approached my limits and faced my biggest mental and physical challenges.  My passions for kitesurfing, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding have taken me to oceans, mountains and deserts all over the world.  More recently I have gotten into cross country skiing and bowhunting.  I am currently completing my book on holistic mind body spirit training of the human being.
